Question
Hi Marie,
We have 2 lively Boston Terriers. Monty (age 4) has no itching problems - his little sister, Daisy (3), is plagued with itching. As a side note, she once (age 7-9 months?) had an extreme allergic reaction. We nearly lost her. The final determination was she was stung by a bee. She went into a coma-like state - rushed to the vet - an hour later her head ballooned - the vet said that was good as then he knew it was an allergic reaction.
Since then, she has had a terrible problem of breaking out in tiny bumps all over her tummy. We have tried everything from the vet.

She has been on Temaril P for a year. With regular blood test monitoring. Of all things, when I tried to re-fill the Rx - the vet's office said they are back-ordered on the drug - an industry wide problem! They offer no alternative.

I know she will turn into an inflamed mess! Also I am not able to wean her off! I only nave one more dose! I am now going for a natural remedy ... any ideas?

I thank your for any advice you can give us!

Answer
Boston Terrier Steroids;
Alternatives to Temaril-P for itchy pets?

Wow -  Any Vet should offer you a very low dosage of the steroid that's in Temaril P.
Can't understand why they did not give you a small dosage to hold her over.  She just can't stop this drug COLD Turkey.

Wow
I am sure you can get a low dose Prednisolone from the Vet.
She needs to be taken off slowly.

I hope this helps!

I would look into another VET down the road.
This situation is not safe for your dog.
She needed to be taken off slowly and they should have given you the steroid alone to give daily or every-other-day.
This will be a shock to her system's organs over time.

I am NOT fond of steroids but in this case it should have been ordered.
