"NuVet says" this about the Maltese:

Maltese Vitamin and Nutrition:

Nutritional Requirements-

The tiny Maltese originated from the island of Malta or the Central Mediterranean Area and has remained unchanged from the original right down through the ages. The coat is fluffy and white and the hair is straight and long. If not kept for showing the hair is often clipped off short rather than left to grow to ground length. They don’t shed much and are one of the few dogs suited to those who suffer from allergies.

Maltese are delightful household pets that get along well with small children, though they may feel threatened by those who are noisy and overactive. They are ideal for apartment dwellers as their exercise needs are not high. They don’t dig, so it is easy to confine them to a small yard. However, they are considered noisy, as they like to yap.

Due to Malta’s water supply emanating from limestone springs, the mineral needs of the Maltese are unique. Sulfate minerals should be avoided. If the coat is yellowed and eye secretions turn facial hair rust-colored, then it is being fed the wrong diet.

In their original home of Malta, the Maltese would have been fed on a diet of poultry, fish and goat, along with acidic type fruits. Brown rice and barley would have supplied the necessary carbohydrates. Today, their diet should be similar, with saltwater fish, lamb and poultry, wheat, avocado and brown rice. Avoid beef, soy, beet pulp and horsemeat.*

As for the Maltese and most breeds of dogs it is highly recommended that a quality dog vitamin supplement be added as a regular part of their daily nutrition as dog foods alone cannot provide all of the vitamins, minerals and nutrition that your beloved Maltese needs. A quality dog vitamin will aid in maintaining a healthy dog and thereby increasing their quality of life and longevity.

Ear Wash -ASK the NuVET folks to send you a bottle of the Natural Pet Ear Wash, too.

The Probiotics:

Also, buy PEARLS probiotics at Walmart, CVS or Walgreens.

Give 1 per day for 90 days.  This will help the smelly ears.

YOU only need PEARLS for 90 days.

This is in the Human Vitamin Section.

VERY safe/  No drugs at all ...

NuVET and PEARLS are low cost and will KEEP the VET away.

HOPE this helps!
