Question
I have a 7 year old Staffordshire terrier named Bronx who has had allergies for only the past 3 years. I have taken him to multiple vets and had blood work done that came back inconclusive. He has been on prednisone and antibiotic for years with little to no results. He also gets vetalog injection monthly. Just so you know I am a former K9 Officer and I am an Animal control officer so I have seen allot of dogs suffering from allergies. The reason I bring this up is because my dog has not just seen one vet he has seen 7 at the rate of $350 and up. I have tried all the different dogs’ food (venison, halibut, rabbit, duck and potato ECT.) My dog has to wear a comfort cone 24/7 so he does not lick himself raw. I ripped up all the carpet in the house and I lived at a house with no grass in the backyard just white rocks. I cannot take him on walks because his paws will bleed from the yeast infection he gets in between his toes. He also has constant ear infection giving off a foul odor so once again the vet gives me otomax for ears infections. I am currently feeding him blue buffalo dog food. I love my dog and any advice you can give would be appreciated. Thank you

LET me know if you take my suggestions?   Thanks, Pet Nurse Marie

Hi Joe, Wow, poor Staffie!  Yes, I have some help for you and your BRONX.
As you know, the long term steroid use takes a toll on the Liver and Immune system.
Let's try to get him on the Lowest possible dosage of Steroids.
Talk to your Vet about this option of lowering the steroids.

As you mentioned, the food he is currently on is very good.
I bet your boy is dealing with mainly Environmental allergies.

PLEASE try the following:   They all work together to help!

1.  Vitamin E  ( get the 250 IU ) and give 1 per day - long term

2.  Ester C   ( 1000 mg )  Per day - long term - Must be ESTER C - Easy on the belly
( the above can be found in the Human Vitamin Section of CVS or Walgreens)

3.  Alaskan Salmon oil - Must be pure -  Give 2 teaspoons per day  ( mix into food)
   Give this long term.

4.  NuVET Plus Supplement -  1000s and 1000s of Staffies take NuVET daily -  helps to re-build a poor immune system.  Also, helps to fight off allergens...  Heals the skin and Ear infections.
Give your boy 2 per day - Long Term

5.   ** PEARLS - ** This is a MUST ---
all my suggestions will help to DEAL with the overgrowth of yeast bacteria related to your Dog's allergies.
PEARLS - can be found at CVS or Walgreens --- EVEN Walmart.
Give 2 per day for 60 days.
PEARLS will help to balance out the Excessive Yeast in the skin and thru the blood.
VERY Safe.
This will help the paws and ears.....
PEARLS are found in the Human Vitamin Section.

For the PAWS / toes
- Try some Colloidal Silver when the toes get bad -  Look for a gel.
Natures Sunshine makes a product called "  SILVER Shield Gel "
You can find Colloidal Silver products in Vitamin/Herb stores or on-line.
Silver is good for the whole family -  Place on cuts/ wounds .... Anti-Viral, Anti-fungal..

Bottom of paws - TRY some BAG Balm - this salve is found in some pet stores but also in the BABY Diaper Section of Walmart and other stores.

I gave you a bunch of info.  HOPE it helps.

PLEASE contact me at :

I would love a photo of your dog..
Also, a photo of the paws- between the toes?
