Alzheimer`s Disease/Bad Memory

Question
A man aged 42, married with 3 kid, in good health, generally, suffers from such bad memory. He sometimes does not remember what occurred in the same morning. He is so worried that it is serious. Is there a memory enhance? Type of food? Over-the-counter-medicine? Does he need to see a doctor?
Forgive me if you are not the expert on this topic, but I could not find one. Can you direct me to the section of this site dealing with this issue?
Thanks a million.

Answer
A man aged 42 with a bad memory should be seen by someone who specializes in memory problems.  This would include a neuropsychologist so that you could have a full battery of neuropsych testing done and then see a neurologist.  The testing would verify if the memory is indeed not working and/or whatever other parts of the brain aren't working.  The neurologist will take all of this into consideration and give you a diagnosis.

I think it is very important to do this.  I don't want to alarm you, but we have seen dementia in 40 year old people.  Early diagnosis is the key to a better future.  Paula
