You might want to try giving her thickened liquids. There are commercial products that when mixed with a thin liquid like juice or milk, given them a texture from syrup like to as thick as a pudding. Many people in later dementia have serious problems swallowing thin liquids, and will avoid them. The swallowing problem is called dysphagia.



A thickened liquid gives all the benefit of a thin liquid, even if you have to eat it with a spoon! Here is an example of one of these products. http://www.thickitretail.com/thickeners.html

try www.clairmontplc.com they have a product they use called choices for alzheimers, see it on you tube,think its on their site too, try the site lots of good info. short and long films, also great book by graham stokes ....and still the music plays
