Question
My dad began showing signs of forgetfulness, mood changes, etc., about 11 years ago.  How long does it take alzheimer to progress until the final stages?  I am very worried and feel so unprepared.  Thank you for any help you can give me.

Answer
Hi Lynne, There is no set time limit for this disease.  Everyone seems to progress at their own speed. Statistics say 2-20 years from date of diagnosis to death.

My best advice to you is to get yourself more prepared, by calling the Alzheimer's Association in your area and go through the materials they have.  They have so much to offer.  They can help you to understand what is going to happen.

I hope they can give you the best information.  Please feel free to get back to me if you still don't feel prepared.  Good luck Paula
