Alzheimer`s Disease/financial advice

Question
My mother-in-law has had alzheimer's for the past year. We have had sitters around the clock for her. We have drawn from her savings to pay for this. Her savings has been drained because of this expense. Where can I find financial advice for her remaining funds? We can't afford this when her funds are gone.

Answer
Hi Patricia,  I tried to answer this last night but it wouldn't go through.

My advice to you is that you should contact the Alzheimer's Association and ask them if they could recommend a lawyer who deals with Eldercare issues.  They may charge you for the initial consult (some do some don't, ask first!) but it will be well worth it.  There are numerous ways to make their money last.

We recently used a lawyer to straighten out my in laws finances and they are now going to be able to stay in the assisted living home. He is helping us to use their money to its fullest.

I hope this helps.  Paula
