QUESTION: My dad is 63 yrs old, and can't remember anything the past which I ask him about, and it feels like he his hiding something, just started.  How do we know if he's hiding info or really injured or problems with the head?

Thank you for writing.

Generally, when a person has a form of Dementia (ex, Alzheimer's) they remember the past very well, but do not remember the immediate present.

If this is something new with your father, i would suggest looking to see if he has any physical problems (flu, high blood pressure, etc.)   or if he is starting to suffer from Depression.

Please ask him to get a good physical from his primary care doctor.

QUESTION: I't just started about 2 months ago, It's not immediate but past 2 to 3 weeks prior which he can't remember, Do you know what the possible diagnosis might be with that?

Hi Ron,
thanks again for writing.  Unfortunately, there is no quick answer to what may be causing your father's forgetfulness.  I would still strongly recommend a visit to the doctor and a complete blood work profile being done to see if there is anything medically wrong.

I hope it is something treatable and your dad can get back to his "normal" self!
