Alzheimer`s Disease/mother last stage

Question
My mother is in the last stage of AD.  She has not walked or turned over in the bed for 9 mos.  She does not say even one word.  She moans and cries sometimes.  She is eating less and less.  She has dificulty drinking?  How much longer?  I feel helpless.

Answer
I wish I could tell you how much longer, but unfortunately I can't.  I do hope that you have Hospice involved.  They would be your best support at this time.  You can call them or your mom's doctor.  They will be better able to tell you how much longer.

From what you describe I wouldn't think it would be that long, I am sorry I know this is not easy.  But it will be a relief for her and you when she finally goes.  Please tell her that it is ok for her to go and that you love her.  I really believe that sometimes people need to hear that it is ok for them to go.

Know that my thoughts are with you at this time.  I wish I could do more.  Paula
