Question
Hi, I have a adult care home and have serveral Alzheimer residents. I have a man that whistle's
all the time expect when he is sleeping. Some times he won't even eat because he can't stop whistling. He is in the last stages of the diease.
We have tried everything from chewing gum to peanut butter. This is driving all my caregivers and other residents crazy because it is non-stop.
Do you have any suggestions? Any thing would be qreatly appericated. Thank you, joyce

Answer
Hi Joyce, I am sure that this is annoying!  Sometimes a real low dose of an antipsychotic such as Risperdal or Seroquel can help to stop this behavior.

I am sure you tried crackers but on the off chance you didn't it might be worth a try also.

Hope the medication helps.  If not let me know and I will dig around and see if I can find something else to help.  Good luck, Paula
