Question HOW DO I ANGLE MY SHOTS?
AND WHEN IM WRESTLING I TEND TO KEEP MOVING SIDE TO SIDE IN CIRCLE AS I SET MY SHOTS UP CAUSE I WAS TAUGHT TO ALWAYS STAY MOVING IS THAT A GOOD THING IM DOING?

Hi John,
Thank you for your question. Yes, it is good to keep moving when setting up your shots. The most important thing to remember is to make sure that you know where your plant foot (back foot) is at all times. Also, remember to not be up on your toe, but keep the side of your foot firmly planted to give you maximum push-off power. I recommend stepping forward into the eye-balled range of being able to visualize touching your opponent's shoulders with your palms flat. Immediately upon stepping, thrust your hands forward as if attempting hand control - simultaneously, bring your back foot up as if trying to touch your lead foot's heel. This should make you top heavy on your lead leg, and also put you in position to take a quick clean shot. Remember to use the same stance to go either direction, which will make your footing instinctive. Also, keep pressure on your opponent by moving into him two inches at a time, never backing out but rather inward, and down to the knee or ankle that you are attacking. Try faking at on knee, and quickly misdirecting back toward the opposite leg in your attack. This will serve to keep your opponent off-balance, making repeated attacks and scoring easy to do without much thought. When in doubt, move forward and down, to initiate the first step advantage. Your opponent cannot stop your level change or the speed of it so keep that in mind as well. If your opponent is still watching you as you start your attack downward, he is already a nano-step behind in his reaction. As a rule, if I could visualize that I was under the chin of my opponent (45degree angle)then I was in good position for a blast double, primarily because I knew that my opponent was going to hit his chin on my head upon his descent to sprawl. One additional thought, get your lead hand down to within 2 inches behind the heel of the leg you are attacking (as in a landing gear of your jet attempting to land quickly on an aircraft carrier. This will serve as your balance hand and will also make your opponent sprawl in reaction to your hand penetration - this will enable your other hand to encircle the sprawling leg, as in the tailhook part of your jet to keep you on the aircraft carrier after the quick landing. The rule to remember is if you lead leg right, attacking right, your left hand goes down to the mat (landing gear) if you are attacking to your left (same stance) you rotate your right hand down to the mat, and your left arm becomes the tailhook. Your hand speed advantage, your ability to rotate quickly upon landing during your attack, and your continuous driving of your legs in a semi-circle, low-level, torque-wrench style action to go behind your opponent will always prevail and neutralize, delayed sprawls and your opponent's whizzer counter. The key to making this system work is attacking from the same stance which gives you a definite speed advantage. Your finesse level will increase as you add this basic attack pattern to misdirection-style attacks ( faking one direction -quickly reversing to the other direction).
