American Motors/leaky vents

Question
Hi, I just got a 1974 AMX Javelin with a 401/auto trans with no AC. When it rains water comes in the fresh air vents on the driver and passenger side. Is this an easy fix?  Thanks

Answer
It is possible you have a rust problem. Check the air intake at the base of the windshield. Look for rust through. Also, there is a panel under the front fenders, the front support rails. It could be rutsted, too.
Look up into the front wheel wells for rust or pull the front fenders and inspect the front support rails for rust. Either way, it can be expensive to repair.
Good luck.
