Question
please help i recently got a 1966 rambler classic 770 232 six but i cant get any fuel from the tank. if i disconnect the fuel line from the tank i can suck/blow air down it freely. but cant do either with the pipe that comes from the tank even with the cap off. is there an electric pump or filter inside the tank or it just blocked. i don't really want to take the tank out unless thats the only option. the fuel pump is fine if i put pipe from pump into a can it runs lovely

Answer
It is possible that the pick up sock in the tank is restricted or clogged. It will require the removal of the tank and sending unit. Once out, inspect the inside of the tank carefully for trash or debris. The sock is fairly generic so you should be able to find one from anther vehicle at your local parts house.
There is no electric pump. You might want to hook up a pressure gauge to the outlet of the fuel pump and measure for pressure while cranking the engine. It might be strong enough to draw fuel from a nearby gas can, but can't handle sucking it from the tank.
