Question
Hi I have a 1964 AMC classic 770 with a 287 automatic. I was wondering if there is a conversion to change from a points distributor to a electronic,I currently have a prestolite distributor.also do I have to change anything else like the coil,plugs, or wires.If so what brand do you recommend.

I do not know if this conversion kit will fit a Prestolite distributor, but you can ask the company.

If you do convert to electronic ignition, I suggest replacing your ignition coil, wires, Cap, rotor & spark plugs.
As for spark plugs, Champion, NGK, or Denso.

I have articles in "American Motoring", the official publication of the American Motors Owners Association. They are the largest AMC club in the world.
