Good Day, My car has a 6cyl. engine 2spd. automatic trans. I want to put a 1976 360V8 and a 3spd.in the car problem one the motor mount on the six has one stud that bolts to the frame, The 8 has two studs How do I aline  eng. and trans to drive shaft so I can drill the holes for the 8cyl. motor mount Problem two the drive shaft is incased inside a steel shell How do I get the thing apart to seperate the trans. from the driveshaft. Will there be any complications conecting the 3 spd to the drive shaft.The 2spd has provisions for the steel tube the 3spd. dosn't.Would really app.any info. Thanks a lot Gary.Do you have any diagrams of those components.

Gary,I got some  of your response but not all. You said the rearend won,t work with the 360.Could you send me the rest Thanks again Gary.
I forgot to mention the rear end. The one in your car will not work with the 360, either. You would have to replace the complete assembly from a later model, after 1966, Ambassador with a V-8.

Sorry about that, they deleted the first part of my message. Let's try again.
You can replace your engine with an AMC 360 and 3 speed transmission, the question is, how much do you have to spend?
You have what is called a torque tube, kind of like an internal driveshaft. It will have to go, as well as the rear end. You will have to remove your complete drivetrain, install the new engine & transmission, fit a new front and rear crossmember to the frame, THEN have a driveshaft made for your set up, along with a rear end for the driveshaft to fit to. As I said, if you got the money, it can be done.
I do not have any manuals for your Ambassador. You should be able to find one on the internet. Google "Ambassador repair manual" or try eBay.
