American Motors/Door lock actuator

Question
My car is not american made (BMW) but the question is generic.  I have power locks and the front driver side lock doesn't work.  I thought it might be the lock actuator, but the door will lock if I use the key on the trunk or passenger side door.  Does this mean it could be the connecting rod?  I haven't had a chance to look inside the panel yet.
Thanks for any help,
David

Answer
I apologize, but I do not have any experience with BMW's power door locks. The vehicles I have experice with (those manufactured by American Motors Corporation) had very few vehicles with power door locks. They only produced vehicles until around 1984. You might try a Clymer's or  Chilton's repair manual for your BMW.
