Question
Hello

My van Astro van has no other place now but park under the strong Arizona sun.
1 would it hurt much the hoses ?  how?  how often should I replace/check them or maintain them - if possible?
2 any idea to protect it?
3 there is a tree I can park it under ( a little far) but then there is that tree glue that ends up on top of the van - any ideas, please ?

Thank you,   Gabe

Answer
If you drive regularly, the sun shouldn't affect the hoses and belts. I would have them checked at least once a year, or before going on a trip. Changing the coolant at least every other year wouldn't hurt, either. If you have to replace the hoses or belts, stay away from the cheap ones. NAPA, Gates, AC Delco, or Dayco are good belts/hoses.
As for your paint, try a quality car cover. I say quality because the $39.95 covers you buy at Wal Mart aren't quality. A good cover will cost at least $100. Shop around and find one that will protect from UV rays. Good luck.
