Question
what is the diference between a 304 and a 360.is it bore and stroke or is ther external differences.and what are the block casting numbers.

Answer
Ben,
The difference between a 304 and a 360 is it's bore. The bore of a 304 is 3.75"; the 360 is 4.08". The stroke for both engines is 3.44". So the 360 is basically a bored out 304.
Externally, all AMC V-8 engines from 1966 up are the same size. On your engine, you should find the cubic inch displacement cast on the block, behind each motor mount.
