Question
What disc brake set up and power steering system will fit my 66 american?
Will a 258 six with mopar trans fit in my american. Thanks Bill

Answer
Because your American has the old design trunnions instead of ball joints, you are limited to using front brakes as found on 1969 and earlier AMC vehicles. The steering knuckle assemblies are different. The later model disc brakes will not bolt up to your AMC. As for power steering, a system prior to 1971 should work OK. AMC switched to a Saginaw pump and box around 1970. You would have to check the Pittman arm size and bolt pattern on the steering box. If they line up, use the later design. Good luck.
