American Motors/cj-7 with weber carburetor

Question
I recently purchased a 2bbl weber carb for my 81 cj-7 with a 258 six.  The jeep runs good until the mechanical secondary kicks in and it falls on it's face.  I replaced the dist cap, rotor, plugs and the coil.  Any ideas?

Answer
Sam,
I do not have any experience with a Weber carburetor. It is possible that there is a problem within your carburetor's secondaries, or the carburetor is not the proper size for your 258. Inquire at the place you bought the Weber, they might know more about it or can direct you to someone who has experience with Webers. Why did you replace the Carter BBS? Those I can help you with.
