hi all
i have aquestion, when my amiga 1200 starts up everything works fine, but when i use a text editor orsomething simular then when i press on of the arrow keys then i get a string like asdfghj when i press the arrow key to the left and cvbnm,./ ifi press the arror key to the right, and the other 2 arrow keys have the same problem, i chencged already the keyboard with another one, but same problem is still there.
please if anyone can help me please reply and also send a mail to mmeuldijk(@)gmail.com (remove the () around the @)

Hi Marcel,

Was the keyboard that you replaced the faulty one with a new one? I'm not 100% sure about the Amiga 1200, but in most of the early Amigas, there's a "CIA" chip or "glue logic" chip that might possibly be the cause for the bad text if the keyboard's processor is shown to work fine. The difficult part of the A1200 though is that most of the components and circuitry are wave-soldered together, instead of being socketed for easy replacement.

It sounds like you might need to have a qualified technican take a look at your system. If you're in the U.S., you could try Software Hut (softhut.com). If you're in Europe, you can try AmigaKit (www.amigakit.com).
