Question
Does anyone know of a way to get an Amiga 500 game to run on a 1200???? Would be much appreciated!!!

Answer
Hi Ashley,

It depends on the game (age, company that made it), but it may be possible to play it by booting up under the 'original hardware' mode. If you hold down both mouse buttons when you boot up your Amiga, you'll be presented with a boot menu. Click on the "Display Options" button, and then select "Original" for the Chip Type, and either NTSC (if you're in the USA) or PAL (if you're in Europe). Click on "Use" at the bottom left, and then "Boot" at the next screen after that. Be sure to put the game disk in the drive right away before it boots up with these new settings.

If the game still doesn't boot, it's quite possible that it was written to "bang the hardware" (meaning it is hard-coded to expect old hardware and software, and is incompatible with your newer Amiga 1200 hardware and software).

I hope this helps!

Greg

I certainly don't know everything about the Amiga, but having been a user of several different models for about fifteen years, I'm willing to share what I know.
