Amiga Problems/Buying an Amiga

Question
Hi Greg,

I want to buy the real Amiga after emulating it for a while. I have always been fascinated by the world of Amiga; unfortunately, I was a baby when people were enjoying the real thing.

Is there a new version of Amiga? Can it run all old games? Where and how can I get one?

thanks

Answer
Hi Victor,

There is a new version of the OS (4.0), but as for a 'new' version of the Amiga in terms of hardware, I've been out of the loop too long to say. You could check the following two Usenet groups/forums for more info:

comp.sys.amiga.misc (http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.amiga.misc?lnk=gschg)

comp.sys.amiga.hardware (http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.amiga.hardware?lnk=gschg)

Your best bet in buying one is most likely through eBay.com, or possibly Software Hut (www.softhut.com). If you want to play the oldest games, I would suggest an Amiga 500 with a 1.3 ROM, but it you want to play some of the newer games from the early to mid 90s, an Amiga 1200 might be a better option.

I hope this helps!

Greg

I certainly don't know everything about the Amiga, but having been a user of several different models for about fifteen years, I'm willing to share what I know.
