Amiga Problems/A1200 booting

Question
QUESTION: My a1200 boots to AmigaDOS how can I stop it ?

ANSWER: Hi Gerry,

When you say it boots to AmigaDOS, do you mean it's not loading Workbench, and leaving you with only a Shell window? If this is the case, just type "LoadWB" at the prompt, and it will load Workbench. I assume this happens every time you boot up, so you'll need to be sure to add the "LoadWB" command at the very end of your startup-sequence (found in the S: directory).

I hope this helps!

QUESTION: Thanks for reply.
LOADWB at promt works OK but I cannot open"startup-squence"to add anything.
My A1200 will only load the Hard Drive if I have Install 3.0 floppy disk inserted.

Answer
Hi Gerry,

Okay, it sounds like you either don't have a hard drive, or the startup-sequence on it has failed. You probably need to reinstall Workbench using your Install 3.0 floppy disk. If this doesn't work either, then you probably need a new copy of the Install 3.0 diskette. You should be able to get a new copy from one of the following companies:

* AmigaKit (www.amigakit.com)
* AmiBay (www.amibay.com)
* Software Hut (www.softhut.com)
* eBay (www.eBay.com)

I hope this helps!
