QUESTION: my amiga 1200 will not play the games there is a error block 893 and it will not play all my games can you help

ANSWER: Hi Jamie,

Regardless of whether the error is on your hard drive or on a diskette, you can try to repair it by using the utility below:

If this cannot repair the damage (which depends on how extensive it is) the diskette will either be unusable (requiring you to buy a new copy of the game) or if it's a hard drive, the bad blocks  may be mapped out, and/or you may lose some data. In any case, DiskSalv will inform you as to the extent of the damage.

As hard drives and diskettes get older, they become more susceptible to bad blocks, so it's wise to keep your data backed up to a secondary device regularly.

Many games cannot (and should not) be copied using the standard copy function in Workbench--this is intentional, in order to prevent piracy. You will need to buy another new or used game from someone; several places to check are:

* AmigaKit (www.amigakit.com)
* AmiBay (www.amibay.com)
* Software Hut (www.softhut.com)
* eBay (www.eBay.com)
