Amiga Problems/Amiga 500

Question
I've just bought an Amiga 500 from ebay and have a few questions.

When the machine is switched on the power light is red as opposed to Green as it is on my A1200. Also, the machine itself loads games but I can't get a signal to the television, does this mean the modulator may be damaged? Lastly, I've ordered a new Modulator from ebay but as I'm not really used to the A500 how can I tell if its the modulator or the machine (I used the A1200 to get the right TV channel so know that its something to do with the signal as opposed to the aerial lead).
Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Answer
Hi Huw,

The only way of knowing for sure is to try the modulator--if you're Amiga seems to be loading OK, I would think it's a good sign. I'm not sure if the Amiga 500's power light is red by default or not, but seeing as it loads OK, it can't be a system failure (or guru meditation error) as it's known on the Amiga. If the modulator still doesn't work, repairing it may not be cost-effective, and buying a second Amiga 500 may be the cheapest option.

I hope this helps!

I certainly don't know everything about the Amiga, but having been a user of several different models for about fifteen years, I'm willing to share what I know.
