Amiga Problems/Amiga1200 hdd problem

Question
Hello,
I´ve refound my amiga and wondered to make it work again.
As the time passed I´ve collected many of hardware and nowadays I have one serious problem.
I have A1200 with 1230turbocard and 32MB of RAM, 4,3GB Seagate HDD and Mitsumi CDROM connected into internal IDE. Now to the problem:
I try to install OS3,1 from diskette named install using HD TOOLS to set HDD. I set partitions (three -first 200MB for system, bootable on, second and third). Nows the time for HD icons to show up but theres no change.
After restart it has no change either.
The only things that I found out is to run the hdd install program which sets the first partition to 8MB, and second the rest of HD space. 8MB is not enough.
So is it problem of HDD?
Second is the problem that sometimes when the system is installed and Im playing games or whatever, after boot the system collapses and it wont boot from HDD. -when I boot from diskettes-its impossible to see HDD icons except one named HDO:nodos...
Thanks for any advice.

Answer
Hi Marauder,

The problem of the hard drives not appearing seems to be related to the size of the hard drive you have--4.3GB may be too big. OS 3.1 cannot properly support hard drives over 4GB. Do you have a smaller hard drive you can use (i.e. something less than 4GB?)

As for the crashes you have experienced; I don't know what might be causing this problem (several things could be affecting your system)...but I would suspect if you tried a smaller-size hard drive that it may eliminate any crashes related to the 4GB max. limit.

I hope this helps in some way!
