Amiga Problems/Disks not loading - Amiga

Question
I have had my Amiga for 6 years +, but for a while it's been sitting around in our loft and getting dusty. Now it won't load any games unless the disk is in _before_ turning it on, if any disks are inserted after it is switched on (Monkey Island 2 with 11 floppy disks!) it won't respond. I have waited, pressed all the buttons on the keyboard and mouse but nothing happens, the light doesn't even turn on. It says Commodore A1200 on the corner of the keyboard, but otherwise I don't know much about it.
So could you tell me what the cause is and how to solve it plz?

Answer
Hi Sara,

Does this happen with only games, or even your Workbench boot
disk? I ask this, since games typically require a reset with
the disk already in the drive to work (which is normal, as they
use their own custom boot code).

If this occurs even with the Workbench disk, then I would suspect
the floppy drive is bad. If you need to replace the drive, you
can buy one from Software Hut:

www.softhut.com

Software Hut is a good source for all things Amiga; hardware
and software. There is another source, however; Centsible Software:

www.centsible.com

I hope this helps; if you have further questions, feel free to contact
me.

I certainly don't know everything about the Amiga, but having been a user of several different models for about fifteen years, I'm willing to share what I know.
