Amiga Problems/Floppy Drive?

Question
I have an Amiga A600. i switch it on with no disk in it and a purple screen with a disk comes up. so i switch it off and put a disk in, the same thing happens. the floppy disk light isnt lighting up, as i had an Amiga years ago i remember bits of how to work one. i guessed it might be the floppy disk drive, so i took it out and replaced it, this time when i put a disk in it the floppy light comes on, and it makes some noise but then it goes to the purple screen again.
i have tried it with game disks, a kickstart disk (how do use that? i cant remember!) i have also put workbench in and the same happens.
I was given this Amiga buy a friend and they said it does work.
thanks in advance!

Answer
Hi Dan,

Seeing as you've tried games disks, and you still get the
purple boot screen, I can only assume that the floppy drive
is still bad somehow. The fact that you're getting the purple
screen means that your motherboard and IC's should be working
as normal (the Amiga checks it's hardware on bootup and will give
you a colored screen if anything were to show up).

I would suggest having the floppy checked again; but if this is
not possible, I would suggest contacting Spencer Jarvis (who
is also here at AllExperts.com) to see what he recommends. Spencer
has a good amount of hardware experience, and should be able to tell
you where to go from here:

I certainly don't know everything about the Amiga, but having been a user of several different models for about fifteen years, I'm willing to share what I know.
