Amiga Problems/Repairing Drive for Amiga 500

Question
I own 2 Amiga 500 Computers. 1 works, 1 doesnot seem to work very well as the drive as been fried i believe. I am thinking about repairing the drive from my old amiga. I always wanted to open it up and look around. Anyway I thought about buying a new internal drive and found a few in the United Kingdom and in Australia on Ebay for a real low price. I know they operate on The PAL System, Does that matter when it comes to Disk drives and Installing them in a NTSC Amiga 500. I am thinking it does not matter but was curious for the truth. Thanks AC

Answer
Hi Aaron,

I don't believe it's an issue at all--there should be no differences electrically, either, as the internal power connectors for Amiga model floppy drives (model specific) should all be the same. As long as you're sure it's the internal floppy drive for the Amiga 500 you're buying, it should work fine.

I hope this helps!

Greg

I certainly don't know everything about the Amiga, but having been a user of several different models for about fifteen years, I'm willing to share what I know.
