Question
QUESTION: hi,
i should like to store amiga floppies on more permanent media to remake them as required, (limited floppy life).
i am using net pc, catweazel mk4, amiga explorer, (amigaforever 2006).
these work for most data and dos discs, my problem relates to protected games discs that i have.
is there a true image way of storing these to remake these when the origionals finally expire or get damaged?
many thanks
steve

ANSWER: Hi Steven,

There's no perfect--or even good--solution to archiving games disks on the Amiga, as the copy protection is very good. Years ago there was a program to make copies of them, but it had limited support for only a certain list of games, and is long antiquated. For anything other than games though, there is ADF (Amiga Disk Format) that you could use from Aminet:

I hope this helps!

QUESTION: hi again
thanks for your quick response.
as there are `true image` progs for pc hd`s, is it
possible, or available, to have a prog to true image via
the catweasel mk4, reading amiga floppy, or am i being too
simple?
thanks
steve

Answer
Hi Steve,

I've never personally used (or seen) the Catweasel being used, so I can't say for sure, but reading about it via Wikipedia, I would imagine some kind of support for true imaging might be possible. Your best bet would be to ask on comp.sys.amiga.misc:
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.amiga.misc?lnk=gschg

or comp.sys.amiga.hardware:

http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.amiga.hardware?lnk=gschg

Someone there may well be familiar with the Catweasel, and able to answer your question.

I hope this helps!

Greg
