Expert: Gregory Donner - 10/11/2004
Question well after an 8 year vacation from amiga computers i decided to get out my old 1200.
and with out remembering the the trouble it can cause .i moved dblntsc out of the devs, monitor drawer and put vga in it's place. bad move now i can't see anything on the screen to change it back. it's all multiples and jumbled. how can i get my screen to come back? i tried removing the hdd, hopeing it would boot to workbench with a floppy. that didn't work nothing seem to get it back to the right resolution. help......
i have an A1200, 3.1 roms,68030 accelerator.
thanks

AnswerHi Butch,
If booting your A1200 from floppy disk did not help, I would suspect your monitor might be at fault. I say that, because DEV:Monitors is loaded from floppy (if you boot from a floppy), and provided you booted fine from it before (i.e. didn't change the default monitor loaded from the floppy) then it shouldn't have any display problems.
I would suggest checking your monitor on another Amiga (if you have one) or perhaps try using your monitor as a TV (they make nice TV's as they're designed for the same video signals as a TV). If the monitor works fine, you could try buying another Workbench 3.1 disk (or Workbench set) from eBay.com or Software Hut (www.softhut.com)--it could be that the diskette's monitor driver is also corrupt, and this should let you boot up to Workbench and change the driver.
I'm sorry I can't be of further assistance in giving you things to try, but I hope this helps resolve your problem!
