Question
Is there any historical evidence of such events as described in Lc 23:44 a suddenly darkened day

Answer
Historical data on subject matter: http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/144583/crucifixion

Luke 23:44-45 It was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour, and the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in the middle.

This timeline was from noon to 3 pm. Mid-day darkness could be explained from within the confines of natural laws, however, since God created the universe and the natural laws it follows, it would be a very small thing for God to create darkness over one planet for a few hours. God could very easily turn off every light source throughout the expanse of the universe for the next ten billion years, or just 2 seconds, if God so whims to do so. God can turn on or off anything; gravity, time, distance, you name it. It's a God thing!

Notwithstanding, history was written by the victors. What we DO know, historically, is far less than what has been lost. It has been speculated that the entire sum of history (written, archeological, etc.) that remains today, is not even 1% of all that was created.
