Question
Can you please clear my confusion. Were Adam and Eve the 1st people? I am teaching ancient wld hist for the 1st time to 6th grades. How does one relate their existance to the discovery of the iceman or the Kenwick Man in Washington that dates back to 7000BC?

Answer
Patti,

There is NO POSSIBLE WAY to correlate the biblical story of Adam and Eve with anthropological discoveries.

Kenwich is a factual discovery, carbon dating assures the date of the K Man, whereas there is no scientific proof that the story of A and E is factual.

The findings of the Kenwick discovery negates the story of Adam and Eve without a shadow of a doubt.

If you are teaching in a puclic school you cannot use any correlation with these two issues due to church and state separation in the US Constitution, however, if you are teaching in a parrochial school [religious] you would have to adhere to the practices of religious dogma.

No matter what type of school you are teaching, the fact is that the story of Adam and Eve is just that a story in the bible.

Expertise

Along with teaching classical Literature for over thirty-eight years, I have also taught history of the Greco-Roman cultures. History and Mythology are, in my opinion, inseparable; it is necessary to have a background in both to have a clear understanding of both ends of the spectrum, the myth and the fact.

Experience

Thirty-eight years of teaching.
