Ancient/Classical History/Alexandria - Ra Kedet

Question
I've read that Alexandria was founded at the site of a fishing village, called Ra Kedet.  "Ra" presumably referred to the Egyptian god, but can you tell me what the whole name meant.
Thank you.

Answer
Hello,

Actually I am not an expert in Ancient Egyptian language and then I cannot help you  with this question regarding the etymology and meaning of  Ra-Kedet, or Rhakotis in Greek, i.e. the little fishing village that  Alexander chose in 304 BC as a the area where he wanted to found a new town just named Alexandria.

Therefore you should ask an expert in Ancient Egypt.

Good luck!
