Question
How do you pronounce the word "diadochi?"

Answer
Hello,

The term “diadochi” (plural of Latin 'Diadochus', from the  Greek term Διάδοχοι, 'Diadokhoi' in Latin transliteration, meaning  "successors”, i.e. the Macedonian generals and administrators who succeeded Alexander the Great at his death in 323 BC) should be pronounced according to its Latin /Greek origin and then as follows:

-DI is pronounced like the DI in “Dictionary” or “Dictator”

-AD lis pronounced like the AD in “Ado”. The stress stands on the A.

-OCH is pronounced like OCC in “occupy”

-I is pronounced like the I in “dictator”.

Best regards,
Maria
