Question
How did the greeks contributed to the modern theater?

Answer
Hello,

Actually the ancient Greeks were the inventors of the theatre.
In fact the Western dramatic tradition  has its origins in ancient Greece, where tragedy  was born in the 6th.century BC when  a man named Thespis is credited with the invention of tragedy which was developed in the 5th.century BC by the great classical Greek dramatists Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides.

In 5th century  BC  also comedy was introduced by Aristophanes, the greatest of the ancient writers of comedy.

Therefore modern theatre owes its existence  to ancient Greeks and then it’s a limited interpretation to say that “Greeks contributed to the modern theatre”, as you said.

Best regards,
Maria
