Ancient/Classical History/Cn. Pompeius Magnus

Question
Can you tell me where the house of Pompey the Great was located?  Was it near the Via Lata and the Pincio Hill or was it attached to the theater he built?  Thanks for any help you can give.  Brenda

Answer
Hello,

I am sorry, but I'm not able to answer definitely this question.
In fact, while there are some remains, especially substructures, of Pompey Theatre, the first stone theatre in Rome built in 55-52 BC, in the neighborhood of the Campo dei Fiori, no remains of the house of Pompeius Magnus are still extant and neither clearly defined Latin designations (in Latin sources) of this building which however was not probably  attached to theatre.

Best regards
Maria
