Answer
John,

If you read my profile you will understand. I taught world cultures almost 40 years and know almost every textbook by heart.

Here is my profile:

Along with teaching classical Literature for over thirty-eight years, I have also taught ancient history of the Greco-Roman cultures [as well as other cultures]. History and Mythology are, in my opinion, inseparable, so that it is necessary to have a background in both one should have a clear understanding of both ends of the spectrum, the myth and the fact.

History is my main field, ancient history which includes the histories of all the religions....and when one teaches history  the rise of a religion are included.

These very questions were in chapter 12 of my last textbook on this topic called:

The First Global Civilization:
Ch. 12  The Rise and Spread of Islam

As to your question about a trick, no trick, just some common sense, there are a variety of search engines that I requested my students use to research a variety of topics.  These search engines are:

Altavista.com
Alltheweb.com
Findwhat.com
HotBot.com
InfoSpace.com
Lycos.com
Google.com
Mamma.com
Yahoo.com
Open Directory at dmoz.com
Ask Jeeves.com
Teoma.com
MSN Search.com
HotBot.com
Inktomi.com
Overture.com
Dogpile Metasearch at dogpile.com

……and so on ….  There are many more search engine to use but for the sake of brevity I have given you the best of them above.

As to what words to use .... think of what is the most important words in your questions …. Then type the words within quotes on any search engine and information  will come to you. You may have to search a bit, but you will get the information yiu are looking for.  Look always for the most important word in a question ... this will be the basis of your research.

It would be very easy for me to give you the answers, but what would you learn from a quick response with the answers?  Better that you learn how to do research, in an organized manner which will benefit you in many ways.

Hope that this has been of some help to you in your future studies,
