Ancient/Classical History/Greek Oration

Question
Was the paraphrased partial quote "It is better to live for one's
country than to die....." made by Pericles?  If not, by whom? Or
am I entirely off base.

Thank You

Answer
Hello,

I'm afraid I cannot help you as this phrase is too vague and could adjust to many contexts (e.g., any author, or general, or statesman ), so that there is nothing in it that tells me where to look for it in the works, for instance, of Thucydides (who reports Pericles' words in his History of the Peloponnesian War).

Sorry about this.

All the best,
Maria
