Question
Apart from archaeological evidence, why do we think the Trojan War happened
around 1250 BC?

Answer
May,

Neither I nor anyone alive is able to give you a definite yes or no answer to your question.  There is no tangible, unrefutable or definite proof which exists to attest to the reality of the Trojan war, therefore what you can do is research the following sites and come up with your own conclusions.

....and many others....

Some of these sites are scholarly, others are not, it depends on who writes them and what their goals are, so use your judgement when reading their information.

Expertise

Along with teaching classical Literature for over thirty-eight years, I have also taught history of the Greco-Roman cultures. History and Mythology are, in my opinion, inseparable; it is necessary to have a background in both to have a clear understanding of both ends of the spectrum, the myth and the fact.

Experience

Thirty-eight years of teaching.
