I recommend you read the following books:

'How to Read Egyptian Hieroglyphs: A Step-by-step Guide to Teach Yourself Hieroglyphs' by Mark Collier, Bill Manley & Richard Parkinson

'Egyptian Grammar' by A.H. Gardiner

These books are available at the better bookstore and from such sources as Amazon.com

The program 'Egyptian Hieroglyphs Made Easy' by Smiles Productions might also be useful.
