Question
Like many others before, I'm sure, I would like to request a Latin translation for my fiancee's wedding band - I seem to remember some Latin (anam cara?) BUT could you please translate the English phrase, "My soul mate, always and forever" into Latin.  I would be so grateful - the ring is on hold until I get this translation.  THANK YOU SO MUCH
-Pamela

Answer
Hi Pamela,

The best translation of "My soul mate, always and forever" is the following:

“Animae dimidium meae, nunc et semper”

Best wishes to you and your fiancé,
Maria

Note that:

-My soul mate = ANIMAE DIMIDIUM MEAE  which literally means  "half of my life/soul", that is  "the partner of my soul’, ‘my soul mate’, as we read in Horace, Odes, book I, Ode 3, line 8.

-always and forever = NUNC ET SEMPER (literally, ‘now and forever’).

As for “anam cara”, I’m sorry, but it is wrong.
