Question
Hi,

I was wondering if you would be able to translate this family motto for me in Latin. thank you

"God gives the strength to overcome"

Answer
Hello,

Here’s the translation you asked me:

-“Deus vincendi dat vim”

Or with a different word order which in Latin can be variable:

-“Dat Deus vincendi vim”.

Best regards,
Maria

Note that:
-God = DEUS (nominative, 2nd.declension)

-gives = DAT (from DO, I give)

-the strength = VIM (direct object, accusative of VIS, 3rd.declension)

-to overcome = VINCENDI (gerund genitive of VINCO, I overcome)
