Question
Hi Maria

I wonder if you might be able to help me with the translation from English to Latin of the 2 short quotes I have listed below:

1) Hope, Realisation, Expectation
2) "The enemy of the enemy is my friend"

Thank you very much in anticipation of your assistance.

                                       Kind Regards

                                     Mr. Craig McNish

Answer
Hello,

here are the translations you asked me:

1)“Spes, Effectus, Exspectatio" (Hope, Realisation, Expectation)
2)"Inimici inimicus meus est amicus” (The enemy of the enemy is my friend )

Best regards,
Maria

Note that in the 1st.phrase:

-Hope = SPES  (nominative case, 5th.declension)
-Realisation = EFFECTUS (  nominative case, 4th.declension)
-Expectation = EXSPECTATIO (nominative case, 3rd.declension)

In the 2nd.phrase:

The enemy  = INIMICUS (nominative, 2nd.declension)
-of the enemy = INIMICI (genitive case of INIMICUS)
-is = EST (from SUM, I am)
-my = MEUS ( nominative masculine agreed with AMICUS)
-friend = AMICUS (nominative, 2nd.declension)

As you can see, Latin word order is different from English. This however is not a problem  as Latin declension by cases  gets everyone to  discern the case of a word.
