Question
Hello!

I was wondering if there were any terms of endearment in ancient Greek, like something a child would say to his mother or grandmother and vice versa. Thank you!

Aki

Answer
Hello,

in ancient Greek there were the following terms of endearment in the sense you say:

-“μαμμίδιον “ (in ancient Greek letters) i.e. “mammídion” (in Latin transliteration)  meaning “mum” / “mummy”.

-“τήθη”(in ancient Greek letters), i.e. “téthe” (in Latin transliteration)  meaning “grandmother”.

-“παιδάριον (in ancient Greek letters), i.e. “paidárion” (in Latin transliteration)  meaning “little boy”/”baby”.

-“κοράσιον (in ancient Greek letters), i.e. “korásion” (in Latin transliteration)  meaning “little girl”/”baby”.

Best regards,
Maria
