Ancient Languages - pray for us

Expert: Maria - 7/4/2009

Question
Maria, I have seen this translated two ways and I am wondering which one is correct.  In prayers, I have seen 'pray for us' is 'Ora pro nobis' and in other translations I have seen that 'pray for us' is 'Priez pour nos' or 'nous'.  Which is correct?  Thanks, Toni.

Answer
Hello,

“Ora pro nobis” is the correct Latin translation for “Pray for us”.

As for “Priez pour nous”, it is not Latin, but the French translation of the same phrase.

Best regards,
Maria
