Question
Hi Maria, I am developing a motto for our fitness club and I would be grateful if you could translate it into latin for me please. The motto I have in mind is "get fit, stay fit" but if this doesn't translate very well I would appreciate any modifying suggestion you might have.
Thanks, Tony

Answer
Hello,

As a  motto for your fitness club you could use an original Latin quotation from the Roman poet Juvenal who in his  Satire X, line 356, says: “Mens sana in corpore sano” (literally, “a healthy mind in a healthy body” / “a sound  mind in a sound body”).

As for “Get fit, stay fit", I have to tell you that  this phrase  doesn't translate very well into Latin where a literal translation of such a motto would sound quite strange, while “Mens sana in corpore sano”  is the best way  to express this concept.

Best regards,
Maria
