Expert: Maria - 7/18/2010
QuestionI understand that the Bible Verse, 1Corinthians 13 was first written in Ancient Greek. The part of that verse that touches my heart is "Love never fails".... I think it was ancient Kiene Greek. Could you translate this for me, Thank you so very much!!!
" Love Never Fails "
and also if you could also translate this..." Always and Forever "
AnswerHello,
here’s the ancient Greek Bible Verse, 1 Corinthians 13:8:
Ἡ ἀγάπη οὐδέποτε πίπτει... (ancient Greek letters) transliterated as “He agápe oudépote píptei... “ meaning exactly :” Love never fails....”.
As for “Always and Forever”, in ancient Greek it is as follows:
Εἰς τὸν ἀεὶ χρόνον (ancient Greek letter) transliterated as “Eis tòn aéi chrónon” .
Have a nice day,
Maria

Note that:
-He agápe / Ἡ ἀγάπη = love
-oudépote /οὐδέποτε= never
-píptei /πίπτει = fails
Moreover note that the Koiné Greek - i.e. the so-called “Koiné dialektos”( literally “common language”), was based chiefly on the Greek Attic dialect and spoken by speakers of different languages in the eastern Mediterranean area from the time of Alexander's conquest as from 334 BC when he led his forces into Asia.
