Question
Hi Maria,

Hoping you can help to translate "Love recklessly" into Latin. I would really appreciate your help.

Thank you!

Best,

Diana

Answer
Hello,

“Love recklessly” can be translated as follows:

1-“Temere ama!” (literal) where  the adverb TEMERE means “recklessly” and AMA (2nd.person singular, imperative of AMO, I love) means “Love”.

Or:

2-“Amare aude!” (literally, “Dare to love!”) where AMARE (infinitive of AMO) means “to love”, while AUDE (2nd.person singular, imperative of AUDEO, I dare, I have courage) means “Dare”/”Have courage”.

Both the translations are correct, of course. So, choose the one you like better.

Best regards,
Maria

As you can see, Latin word order can be different from English for Latin is an inflected language where syntactical relationships are indicated by the endings, not by the order of the words.
